SECI announced the results of its Mode 1 Tranche 1 bids recently. The bids were for 410,000 MT / year in Bucket 1 (Tech Agnostic Pathway) and 40,000 MT/ year in Bucket 2 (Biomass based pathway). The tender was floated in July 23. It received bids for 549,730 MT/ year in Bucket 1 and 20,000 MT /year in Bucket 2. The successfull bidders are as below:
It is interesting to see the active participation of non end users in these bids. This clearly indicates either an export plan or tie-ups with existing consumers. Also, there doesn't seem to be enough interest in the biomass pathway perhaps due to technology challenges and also because of acceptance as "green hydrogen" globally.
